Can I get coronavirus from a delivered package?

U.S. health officials said on Monday that there is no evidence to support the transmission of the new coronavirus through imported goods. Because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces and objects, there is likely very very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Public Health has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. To this date (2020-03-18) there no reported coronavirus infected cases in our local town Palanga, Lithuania.

In keeping with public health official guidelines, we are taking precautionary and safety measures to limit your exposure and that of our employees. At this time, we carry on with normal business operations with modified guidelines.

Take steps to protect yourself

Clean your hands often

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
